BENEFITS OF BEING A MEMBER The American Murray Grey Association is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting the Murray breed and AMGA members. Members have the privilege of recording pedigrees and ownership and to record the ownership of registered cattle and those who wish can submit performance data for genetic evaluation through the Total Performance Reporting program. Another benefit of membership is that our current membership is listed on the website to help potential buyers find MG herds. The website also hosts the Murray Grey Pedigree Search. Visitors to the site can research and study the pedigrees and EPDs of Murray Greys registered in the United States. The website offers information on the breed and the Association. There are reference materials for members, information for newcomers, and a lot of “inside-baseball stuff” for those so inclined. It has been the major promotional tool of the Association for 20 years. Members also have the opportunity to be part of group promotions. The Association will partner with members to go to conferences, trade shows, or other cattle events to promote Murray Greys. For the “farm – to – table” marketers, AMGA provides “Certified American Murray Grey Beef” branding capabilities for members. AMGA members in good standing are welcome, and encouraged to attend the Annual Membership meetings. The Board determines policies and procedures, while changes to the bylaws come from a vote of the membership. The Annual Membership Meeting is held in conjunction with the National Show venue which alternates between the Northwest and the East. (The 2023 National Murray Grey show will be at the World Beef Expo in Milwaukee, WI in September and the 2024 National Show will be at the Western Idaho Fair in Boise, ID in August 2024.)
